2026 Competition Categories

Four categories under the “Robots Meet Culture” theme. Choose the challenge that excites your team the most.

RoboMission

Teams build and program autonomous robots to solve missions on a themed game field. The 2026 season challenges revolve around cultural heritage — robots might sort artifacts, navigate museum layouts, or reconstruct historical scenes.

Ages: Elementary (8–12), Junior (11–14), Senior (14–19)

Future Innovators

A project-based competition where teams develop robotic solutions that help shape, protect, or grow art and culture. Teams present their innovations to judges who evaluate both the technical solution and its real-world impact.

Future Engineers — Self-Driving Cars

Teams design and build autonomous vehicles with steering mechanisms that navigate tracked courses. The challenge addresses real-world autonomous driving research, requiring sophisticated sensor integration and path planning.

Ages: 14–22 years

RoboSports — Double Tennis

Two teams field autonomous robots in a fast-paced doubles tennis match. Each team controls two robots that must coordinate to serve, return, and score points on the playfield.

Ages: 11–19 years

The World’s Largest Youth Robotics Competition

The World Robot Olympiad is an international educational robotics competition run by an independent non-profit since 2004. Over 100,000 students from 95+ countries participate each year, guided by 40,000+ adult volunteers.

WRO Kenya is organized by STEM Impact Center Kenya. Local tournaments across Kenya lead to a National Championship, from which our best teams represent Kenya at the International Finals.
